His full name and birth name is Gabe Logan Newell born November 3, 1962, often nicknamed Gaben. Gabe Newell is an American entrepreneur and founder of VALVe. He worked on many projects at Microsoft, becoming a "Microsoft Millionaire" before founding VALVe with a fellow employee.
Gabe Newell's favorite games are Super Mario 64, Doom and Star Trek, played on a Burroughs mainframe computer. Doom convinced him that video games were the future of entertainment.
In March 2013, Newell received the BAFTA Fellowship for his outstanding creative contribution to the video games. Within the gaming community, he is nicknamed Gaben, after his work email address.
